Top 25 Positional Players for Fantasy Football
These are the best of the best overall and will help you win your fantasy football leagues
I will start to post more about Fantasy Sports on “Baller Sports Dialogue” and after detailed research and taking into account projected fantasy points and statistical outlooks for each of these players, these are the top 25 overall for your PPR (Points Per Reception) leagues that you should try to draft or acquire via trade if you have already drafted.
Now, this is overall for PPR leagues so just because Patrick Mahomes will have the most projected points and rank #1 on this list, that does NOT mean you should take him 1st overall or even in the first round if there are still dominant Running Backs available. Without further ado, here are my projected top 25 positional performers for the upcoming Fantasy Football season.
Patrick Mahomes, Quarterback
Is there really any question here? Leaps and bounds better than QB2 Josh Allen in fantasy, Mahomes is a sure thing to get 40 touchdown passes and 4600 passing yards even if he sits in Week 17 of the season.
Overall, he is still the best producer overall in PPR not only at the position but for all positions in general. Don’t take him until round 2 at the very earliest though as getting a Running Back in round 1 is crucial for winning leagues.
2. Christian McCaffrey, Running Back
CMC is the overall #1 selection in every league for a reason. In PPR formats he is the surest thing to pick up a ton of receptions and run for a ton of yards, all while producing a bunch of touchdowns for your team. He is the obvious pick #1 in all leagues.
3. Alvin Kamara, Running Back
Alvin Kamara should still be going #2 overall in every fantasy league. Yes, Kamara didn’t perform last season when Drew Brees didn’t play, but that should not be a factor this year as he has had a whole offseason to adapt to and play with Jamies Winston. Kamara, like McCaffrey, will pick up a ton of receptions to go along with a lot of rushing yards, all while picking up a bunch of touchdowns.
4. Josh Allen, Quarterback
The obvious QB2, Allen is going to have another MVP type season and will be very valuable in PPR leagues because of his elite passing and his ability to pick up a bunch of rush yards and touchdowns as well. Allen should not be taken before round 2 or 3, but if you can snag him in round 3, it may be worth passing up a dominant RB or WR in your fantasy league.
5. Dalvin Cook, Running Back
Cook is a sure thing to rush for over 1,300 yards and pick up some receptions and receiving touchdowns along the way as well. He should be everyone’s #3 pick in their fantasy draft.
6. Antonio Gibson, Running Back
Here is a guy that had one of the most underrated seasons of all time in fantasy football last year. Gibson was ranked in all PPR leagues as a top 3 Running Back until he got hurt and missed a couple of games last season.
I am as high on Gibson as anyone and really believe he is a first-rounder since he is such a good receiver(he played receiver in college) and will pick up a ton of receptions as well for PPR formats. Even though he is a first-rounder, you will probably be in a league full of fools who will pass on Gibson and he will most definitely be available in the 12-16 range for you to pick. Don’t pass up on Gibson who could become as consistent as an Alvin Kamara or CMC this year.
7. Derrick Henry, Running Back
Henry is still the best rusher in the NFL and it’s not close at all. He won’t pick up many receptions which is why he isn’t higher than Dalvin Cook or Kamara or CMC, but he will rush so well that he will pick up as many points in a PPR league as an Austin Ekeler or Aaron Jones. Pick him 4th overall if you have that selection. No way Henry should be available after that and if he is, you win your league.
8. Tyreek Hill, Wide Receiver
The obvious best receiver in PPR formats is Tyreek Hill. Davantae Adams will be WR2 after Hill’s miraculous season he is about to have. Hill is a good pick anywhere from 6th overall to 9th overall and is worth drafting a Wide Receiver in the first round since he will produce so many points.
9. Davantae Adams, Wide Receiver
Adams is WR2 this season and do not by any means pick him before 7th overall. He is not worth it as Wide Receivers are really deep this year for PPR leagues.
10. Jonathan Taylor, Running Back
Taylor is a sure thing first-rounder if he can stay healthy. He is one of the best rushers in the NFL already and is good a receiving and picking up yardage after the catch as well. He should go anywhere from 7-10 in all leagues.
11. Travis Kelce, Tight End
Kelce is TE1 because of his Quarterback, but if Kittle was on the Cheifs we would be having a whole different conversation. Kittle is more talented in my opinion, but Kelce is Mahomes’ favorite red-zone target and will pick up a ton of touchdowns, probably the most of anyone in fantasy football. Stability at the Tight End position is crucial so Kelce should go anywhere from 5-8 in all leagues.
12. George Kittle, Tight End
Kittle will have a great year regardless of who is playing Quarterback this season for the 49ers. He is the undisputed #1 option on offense and should be a Red-Zone monster this season. Draft him in round 2 or 3, it’ll be worth it.
13. Lamar Jackson, Quarterback
Lamar Jackson is set up for a huge year in Baltimore, similar to the year he won the NFL MVP in 2019. I would never draft a Quarterback before the 6th round, but Jackson is a sure thing to get you a ton of passing and rushing yards.
14. Austin Ekeler, Running Back
A PPR monster, Ekeler is very similar to McCaffrey and Kamara in the sense that he will get you a ton of receptions and rush for a ton of yards. As long as Justin Herbert targets him in the End-Zone pretty regularly then Ekeler is a steal at the end of the first round. Take him with the 8th-11th overall picks.
15. Ezekiel Elliot, Running Back
As long as Dak Prescott is healthy then Elliot will be a top 6 RB all season long. However, I don’t think that Prescott can stay healthy and Zeke’s production will diminish because of that. This is a very risky first-round pick.
16. Aaron Jones, Running Back
Jones is an amazing PPR monster but will share more snaps with AJ Dillon this season for Green Bay, limiting his production a tiny bit. He will still grab you receiving touchdowns and rushing touchdowns, but Dillion is set to be way more involved with the offense which is why you should stay away from Jones in the first round.
17. Deandre Hopkins, Wide Receiver
Hopkins is WR3 in my mind ahead of Stefon Diggs because he is simply going to be a touchdown monster this year. Kyler Murray will have his best season yet and Hopkins may have 15-20 touchdown receptions with over 1,300 yards receiving. Don’t pass on Hopkins in the second round if Gibson is off the board.
18. Kyler Murray, Quarterback
Kyler Murray will have his MVP type season this year as he has had plenty of time to work with Hopkins, Edmonds, and the offense. This is the year Murray throws for over 4,500 yards and rushes for 500 yards as well with 35+ touchdowns in total. Don’t pick him in round 3, but if he’s available in round 4 you may need to pull the trigger.
19. Darren Waller, Tight End
Waller is the third-best Tight End in the NFL and will be a very solid round 3 pickup if he falls to you because of him being the Raiders #1 receiving option.
20. Stefon Diggs
Diggs is projected MVP Josh Allen’s #1 target on offense and could even catch 15 touchdowns this season very easily. Diggs will get 1,400 yards receiving and be the WR4 this season in Fantasy Football.
21. Saquon Barkley
I like Saquon Barkley a lot, but he is still working with a bottom 5 offensive line and is coming off of a gruesome injury. He definitely is a high-risk- high reward player and I would stay away from him in round 1.
22. Nick Chubb
Nick Chubb is definitely higher in best players in the NFL but for Fantasy Football he is 23rd. It’s because he shares a backfield with Kareem Hunt and his production will be down this year even though he is so good. Stay away from Nick Chubb this year in PPR leagues.
23. Najee Harris
Harris is going to be amazing for your fantasy team and he is the lead back for a rush-heavy offense. Harris is a big, power back at 6-2 225 and will be a force in year one. He is a solid second-round selection.
24. DK Metcalf
DK Metcalf checks in as WR5 in my opinion as he will be a touchdown machine this season as Rusell Wilson’s #1 option. Metcalf is one of the fastest and biggest receivers in the NFL and will wreak havoc again on opposing defenses. Metcalf will have his best year yet in Fantasy Football.
25. Clyde Edwards-Helaire
Edwards-Helaire is going to be a PPR beast this season. Being the lead back for the projected #1 offense in the NFL, Edwards-Helaire will get a ton of receptions from Patrick Mahomes and rush for a good amount of yards and touchdowns. Edwards-Helaire will be a fantastic third-round selection in your drafts.
Gret analysis Brandon. Of course, if we've already drafted...
