Top 20 Quarterbacks for Week 5
After a down week for Tom Brady, Jameis Winston, and Josh Allen, but who are the best of the best for Week 5?
The Quarterback position is one of the most crucial in Fantasy Football since you need consistency from it to win your league. However, getting a good Quarterback is much easier than getting a good Running Back and Wide Receiver.
You can even pick up a solid QB on the waiver wire each week. Furthermore, here are the top 20 Quarterback Rankings for the week based on matchups and production. I want you all to win your fantasy leagues and more importantly your matchups for the week.
Top 20:
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals, Opponent: San Francisco 49ers
It does not matter who Kyler Murray is playing, he is the MVP of the NFL right now and of Fantasy Football as well. The 49ers have a good defense, but not an elite one because of all of their injuries. Kyler Murray is QB1 in all leagues regardless of matchups until he stops producing at this level.
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Cheifs, Opponent: Buffalo Bills
Yes, the Bills have a fantastic defense, but Mahomes is also the best in the business at consistently putting up big fantasy points for a QB regardless of his opponent. Expect at least 3 touchdowns in a shootout with 0 interceptions for Mahomes.
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills, Opponent: Kansas City Cheifs
Allen is playing an atrocious defense in the Chiefs and should throw for 4+ touchdowns with a rush touchdown as well. Start Allen with confidence and he could be the overall QB1 for the week.
Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens, Opponent: Indianapolis Colts
The Colts have a good defense, but Lamar Jackson’s ability to pass for tons of yards and touchdowns and also being arguably the best runner in the league as well make him a top 4 QB every single week. Start Jackson with extreme confidence. He won’t disappoint.
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams, Opponent: Seattle Seahawks
Stafford is going up against a very weak Seahawks defense that allowed 157 passing yards and 2 touchdowns to Rookie Trey Lance in one half of football! Imagine what Stafford will do to the Seahawks if Lance could dominate them like that for only one half! Stafford is poised for 25 fantasy points and a huge day against the Seahawks in a big division rivalry game where the Rams will want to make a statement after an embarrassing loss last week to the Cardinals.
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys, Opponent: New York Giants
Division rivalry game? Yea, that all but confirms Dak Prescott to have a dominant game. He has been so good and consistent and nothing should change against a mediocre Giants defense. I would expect 3-4 touchdowns for Prescott and start him with confidence!
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers, Opponent: Cincinnatti Bengals
The Bengals have surprised me with their defense this season, but let’s be honest with ourselves. There is no way that they will be able to contain Aaron Rodgers. Literally, a 0 percent chance that they will be able to contain him. Expect a huge day for Rodgers and the Packers’ offense.
Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks, Opponent: Los Angeles Rams
The Seahawks are going to have to win in a shootout and that is why I expect Wilson to have a huge day in the air. He should throw for over 300 yards with two touchdowns and also run for 50 yards and maybe even a touchdown. Wilson is a must-start in Week 5.
Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Opponent: Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins have a decent defense at times but shouldn’t be able to contain Brady after last weekend where Brady did not look like himself. Brady should have a bounceback week even against the Dolphins.
Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings, Opponent: Detroit Lions
The Lions’ defense is terrible and Cousins will be able to exploit them with his weapons. Expect a 3-4 touchdown day for Cousins with over 300 passing yards, especially after a miserable week Cousins had against Cleveland last weekend.
Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers, Opponent: Cleveland Browns
Herbert is a must-start every week with his consistent production and with all of the weapons he has. He is playing a tough defense which is why I am a little less confident putting Herbert in the top 11 Quarterbacks this week.
However, he is still Justin Herbert, arguably the best young QB in the NFL and he should still put up two-three touchdowns with over 250 passing yards.
Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles, Opponent: Carolina Panthers
Dak Prescott and the Cowboys exposed Carolina’s supposed dominant defense. Hurts is a dual-threat QB that is almost always going to produce in fantasy with his ability to run for big yardage and pass for touchdowns as well. Expect Hurts to struggle a bit against the Panthers but also be good enough to finish as the 12th best QB for Week 5.
Daniel Jones, New York Giants, Opponent: Dallas Cowboys
Jones has proven to be a really good fantasy QB every week this season except one where he played awful against the Falcons in Week 3. Jones is playing a Cowboys defense that gives up a lot of points usually, and because of that Jones should have a really good day in the air and in the run game as he is a serious running threat every play.
Sam Darnold, Carolina Panthers, Opponent: Philadelphia Eagles
Darnold leads the league in rushing touchdowns. Think about that for a second. Sam Darnold leads the league in rushing touchdowns! How crazy is that? The Eagles have given up a lot of points and Darnold should have both a good day in the passing game and in the running game.
Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders, Opponent: Chicago Bears
Carr is playing a tough Bears defense this weekend, but he is still having his Pro-Bowl season and consistently puts up 300+ yards every single game. He should also pass for two touchdowns against the Bears but watch out for his interception totals against this defense.
Ryan Tannehill, Tennesee Titans, Opponent: Jacksonville Jaguars
Tannehill was without star receivers A.J. Brown and Julio Jones last weekend in the loss to the Jets, but he should get them both back this weekend against an awful Jaguars defense. Expect Tannehill to have a huge day against the Jaguars assuming his receivers are back on the field.
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals, Opponent: Green Bay Packers
The Packers don’t have a good defense and Joe Burrow should have a ton of yards in the air. However, his rushing production is limited and who knows how many touchdowns he will be able to throw if Green Bay has the time of possession handled the whole game as they should. Either way, Burrow is bound for a good day.
Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers, Opponent: Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have stepped up to the plate and have played very good defense when they needed to this season. However, Lance is a huge running threat and has passed the ball well so far this season as well. I would expect Lance to have about 20 fantasy points with two passing touchdowns and maybe a rush touchdown ranking him 18th in PPR leagues.
Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints, Opponent: Washington Football Team
Winston has been up and down, but he is going up against a Washington Football Team that ranks close to last in every single defensive category. If you are willing to take a risk, Winston could have a really good day.
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions, Opponent: Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings have an awful defense even though they played alright against the Browns last weekend. Goff should exploit them by targeting T.J. Hockenson the whole game and throwing for 2 touchdowns with over 350 passing yards.
